Outreach, Missions, & Service

Do you have a heart for missions? Are you always looking for ways to help your community, locally and worldwide? Then you have come to the right place! Buford Presbyterian congregation is always looking for ways to help out. You will see the youth involved in collecting food for the food bank, helping neighbors in and outside the church with yard work and small projects around the house, and in packing meals for international programs such as Rise Against Hunger.

The congregation as a whole helps support many ongoing programs including PATH (Presbyterian Answer to Hunger), North Gwinnett Co-Op, Good News at Noon, Rise Against Hunger, Red Cross Blood Drives, Operation Christmas Child shoebox ministry, North Gwinnett Co-Op Angel Tree Christmas Ministry, Willowwood Nursing Center, “Souper Bowl” Sunday food drive, Stitches for Mission, and many other organizations.

We also open our facilities for use by organizations that benefit the community and provide valuable services such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts.

Whatever your talent, however you would like to give back, Buford Presbyterian can use your help in God’s community.

Global Missions

Rise Against Hunger

Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable, mobilizing the necessary resources with the aim to end hunger by 2030.

Over the last three years, BPC has packed over 60,200 meals during our annual events.

National Missions

Blood Drives

Every day blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. We conduct quarterly blood drives with Life South. In past years, BPC has donated an average of 14 pints of blood per event, for a total of 56 pints per year, and 168 pints of blood over the last three years.

BPC is also a major partner and contributor to the North Gwinnett Co-Op, located in Buford, GA. Our Red Barrel in the Narthex is a collection point for all to bring canned good & food donations every week.

Good News at Noon

Good News at Noon is a meal ministry hosting friends in our community 7 days a week. Buford Presbyterian Church prepares and serves Sunday lunch quarterly at the facility located in Gainesville, GA.

Over the last three years, Buford Presbyterian Church has served over 500 meals to those less fortunate in the community.

North Gwinnett Co-Op Angel Tree

Each year during the Christmas holiday, our congregation responds to the call of the North Gwinnett Co-Op to assist with donating gifts for the less fortunate in our community. Annually we collect gifts for both adults and children in need.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministers are laypeople--Christian men and women who are trained to provide one to one care to people experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, relocation, or separation. Stephen Ministers come from all walks of life. Their commonality? A passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need. They have gone through a year long training program that equips them to handle all kinds of situations. If you want to know more about the program or would like to discuss the possibility of having A Stephen Minister assigned to you, please contact one of the pastors, a Stephen Leader, or the church office (770-945-6711).

We have volunteers trained to visit folks in the hospital, a facility, or home. As our ministry grows, we hope to expand our services to offer transportation, respite for caregivers, and a prayer ministry. If you feel this may a ministry for you, and would like to volunteer or know someone in need, please contact the church office (770-945-6711).
